For this recent assignment for The Guardian, I converted a small hotel room into a makeshift studio and photographed two of World’s Strongest Men Competitors.
Oleksii Novikov, Ukrainian professional strongman who competed this year for 2022 World’s Strongest Man Competition in Sacramento, CA.
“Whatever the country that wins this competition, its people will be the strongest nation. Ukraine needs this win. It will support our army and the men who defend our country. It’s very important. It means a lot.”
Rob Kearney, American professional strongman and is the first openly gay strongman in the sport. He competed this year for 2022 World’s Strongest Man Competition in Sacramento, CA.
“I had lived a very heteronormative life. I was in a relationship with a girl for a year and a half and kind of woke up one day and realized that this wasn’t the life for me. To be honest, I was tired. I was tired of having to wake up every day and pretend to be somebody I wasn’t.”
